San Martino in Pensilis Photos

St. Martin

St. Martin is a remarkable Baroque masterpiece. The facade is dived into three bays with projecting central pilasters decorated with capitals in shape of sea shells. The main entrance is decorated with a moulded lintel crowned with a stucco panel topped with a composite pediment. In the upper storey is an elegant central light and two pedimented niches. Noteworthy is the upper roof cornice that is fashioned in shape of a broken pediment.

Baronial Palace

The Baronial Palace dates back to the 12th century and was restored several times. The main stonework gateway reveals its medieval origins. The western side wing was added afterwards and features a remarkable loggia. It was owned by Ferdinand Capuae, Duke of Termoli.

Historic centre view

Historic centre view. The old town, popularly called mezzaterra, is located on the top of a hill overlooking the Biferno Valley.
