Civic Palace |
The Civic Palace was built for Humbert and Margaret of Savoia and it was opened to public in 1907. The civic palace has a trapezoidal plan and its shape is very symmetrical and balanced; the two octagonal towers, ending with terraces, are a remarkable feature. You can see an impressive coat of arms which consists in a marble shield and a bronze eagle superimposed on a beautiful gold mosaic.

St. Mary of Assumption Cathedral |
The Cagliari Cathedral had its façade recently restored to the original project by architect Francesco Giarizzo; it expresses a clear Tuscan-Romanesque influence epitomized by the blind arches separated by columns. The Sardinian art is actually an original synthesis of autochthonous tradition and that of the foreigner rulers, especially Tuscans and Catalans.
