Palazzo del Comune and Piazza della Libertà |

In Piazza della Libertà (Freedom Square) is the remarkable Town Hall. It served as a Franciscan monastery also. It is a Baroque masterpiece featuring a rusticated basement and a three round arched headed entrance. The piano nobile pattern is composed by noteworthy elliptical arched lights surmounted by linear pediments. The interiors lodge important canvas by Lombard Renaissance master Bramante. In front of the Palazzo are some Messapian and Roman ruins.

St. Orrence's votive spire |

The baroque votive spire is dedicated to the Patron Saint who is popularly supposed to have freed the city from the plague of the 18th century. It was sculpted by Giuseppe Greco utilizing a local renowned calcar stone. At the top is a statue representing St. Orrence.

St. Vitus Marthyr |
|
St. Vitus Marthyr is a flamboyant rocaille building erected in the 18th century. On the main entrance, close to the niche shown in the pictures, are the coats of arms of the Carmelitan order and of the Bishop Scoppa who built the church.
