Baia’s Castle |
The massive Baia castle is located on the extreme northern tip of the coastline facing the Pozzuoli Bay. Actually the word baia in Italian stands for bay. King Alfonso II of Aragona built the fortress for defensive purposes. It has housed a resort, a theatre and a prison and has been turned at last into the Archaeological Museum of Campi Felgrei (names which refers to the area surrounding Pozzuoli and the Pozzuoli bay). The towers of the castle are eligible for the best views of the Pozzuoli bay.

Temple of Venus |
Dating back to the Hadrian and Nero's ages, this structure, colloquially known as the Venus Temple, was not a religious building but part of a Roman bathing complex. It is located at the entrance of the Baia harbour; four apses that enclosed the four halls in which the thermae were articulated constitute the ruin: the thermae were divided into the hot, the lukewarm, the cold and the moist steam bath rooms.
