Sacred Family Church |
|
The beautiful church dedicated to the Sacred Family and the Capuchins Convent (situated at the back and on the left side of the church) were built in the place indicated by St. Padre Pio to the rich benefactress Mary Pyle who financed its building in 1926. The Convent today houses an exhaustive Museum dedicated to Padre Pio's life.

The house where Padre Pio was born in the 25th May 1887 is located at nr. 32, Vico Storto Valle in the medieval village of Pietralcina. The inscriptions placed outside commemorate this event. On the right side of the entrance it is quoted: "In this small house in the 25th May 1887 Francesco Forgione known by the world as Padre Pio from Pietralcina was born".

St. Mary of Angels' Church |
|
The main church of Pietrelcina, situated in Holy Assumption's Square, it is particularly important because it has been setting of important events in St. Pio's life (he started here his apostolate, managed his first baptism and celebrated his first mass). It is said also that in this church Padre Pio, meditating, experienced the religious ecstasy. Inside the church, we find a bronze statue of the Saint: in 2000 a new bronze main door, blessed by the Pope John Paul II, was added: the scenes engraved are about Padre Pio's Life.
