The Duomo is one of the most renowned sights in central Italy and features a colourful decoration of white travertine and green basalt stripes. The facade includes some remarkable sculptures, blind arches with pilaster strips, mosaics and a striking rose window with Gothic stone mullions and tracery set within a square flanked by high reliefs.

The massive Palazzo del Popolo (people palazzo, that is to say the city council) is a medieval red tufa and basalt building featuring a first floor gallery of three-arch headed windows and a flat roof topped with a battlemented parapet. Today it hosts temporary exhibitions.

Moorish Tower |
|
The Tower dates back to the middle age and point to the north. It was used as a surveillance tower and known has the Pope Tower, because the territory of Orvieto was under papal control. The name changed lately in Moorish Tower because the city suffered from Moors attacks. In the 19th century the structure was turned into a belfry, and a clock dial was mounted in it.
