The fishermen's island, also known as Isola Superiore, is part of the Borromean Archipelago, enchanted cluster of islands scattered in the Lake Maggiore between Stresa and Verbania. It is the only inhabited isle of the cluster and has a fishing village with the picturesque parish of San Vittore, of which you can see the tall campanile in the picture. It is one of the main sight of Lake Maggiore.

These lavish gardens are a masterpiece of Italian landscape architecture. The Borromean Gardens include several paths, gazebos and patios put on degrading terraces stretching along the tip of the Bella Isle. From the upper terraces you can enjoy a striking view encompassing the entire lake.
