| St. Mary of the Lauro's Sanctuary |

The Sanctuary, built in the last century, features a sober white facade with pilaster strips (little columns). The Legend tells that it was built for some sailors' will that, once caught in a storm, prayed the Madonna of Lauro to save their lives. They promised to build a temple in her honor where they landed. And so they did in Scalea.

The church was built following a modern design; it is dedicated to the SS. Trinity.

| Talao Tower |

The characteristic tower was built in sixteenth century on an island called Talao which, lately, adjoined the mainland due to the flood-tide. Its massive structure shows it was built for defensive purposes. During time, its function changed and it was setting of intellectual and studies meetings. It is a must-see destination for the local tourists.
