The town, founded by Greeks during the Byzantine rule of Southern Italy, lies on pointy peaks overlooking the Lao Valley, situated in the Pollino National Reserve. In the foreground, you can see the Mother Church dedicated to Saint Constantine.

The castle, built in the 11-12 century, was probably part of a defence system running over all the peaks surrounding Papasidero.

Saint Francis of Paola Church |

The Saint Francis of Paola Church is part of a complex including a convent and a kindergarten and was built thanks to Nicola Dario's donation in the 19th century. The interiors are covered with a fresco cycle of the life of Saint Francis. The kindergarten is owned by the nuns of the Holy Blood.
