| The Cathedral |

The Udine Cathedral was originally built in 1225 and restored several times. The brick façade has three portals; the main entrance is surmounted by a lunette engraved with high relieves. The naves were frescoed by Giambattista Tiepolo, one of the most important rococo Italian painters. The church houses an important Museum of religious decorative arts.

| The Clock Tower |

The Tower, dating back to 1527, is in Liberty Square and has been embodied in the St. John's Portico. The tower includes a mechanical clockwork hourly show of moving figures representing the Saracens. The dial is framed with engraved little pillars and has in the centre a golden sun lying on a blue background.

| Castle's foreshortening |

The Ancient City Castle, which was reported by documents since 983, was stricken by various earthquakes and hence restored several times. It is on a hill close to the city centre and overlooks the plain. The castle is mainly a Romanesque structure: it has a Parliament/council hall considered to be one of the most ancient of all Europe.
