The stream (seen from the bridge of XXVI February Street) springs from the St. Jacques's hollow and crosses all the Ayas' Valley. On left bank is St. Gilles' Collegiate, on the right bank, on the top of the hill you can see the town castle.

| Challant's Castle |

View of the Verres Gothic Castle, majestic manor house belonging to the Challants family: it stands on a hill and overlooks the valley. It was built for defensive purpose, but was also used as an abode; it is made up of a unique stone block, decorated with elegant gothic windows. Every year the Castle lodges the traditional Carnival feast which remembers the ancient glory of the Challant family.

| Saint Gilles' Collegiate Church. |

The St. Gilles Collegiate Church was built in the 10th century along the right bank of a stream called Evançon. The campanile was added in 1500. The church houses the Challant's family remains. Today it is setting of Classic and Religious Music Concerts.
